Mercer Veterans Memorial Park is located across from the Loon between US Highway 51 and Veterans Memorial Parkway in Mercer, Wisconsin.
In the spring of 2005 the Town of Mercer gave their support to building the Veterans Memorial. The Park is currently under construction. It is being built with the many generous donations from the community and its friends and also with the help of all volunteer labor. We are dedicating the Memorial on Armed Forces Day, May 16th, 2009.
C.B. Masonry, Inc. donated their time and some of the materials for the walls and pedestals. Northern Lakes Concrete donated the concrete and some materials also. The flag and flagpole were donated in memory of Earl Barncard Jr. by his daughter, Corinne Johnson and her husband Dan.
Mission Statement.
It is the purpose of this memorial to honor all the men and women that have served, are serving and will serve in our Armed Forces in peacetime and war. It is our intention to commemorate and celebrate these courageous men and women because of their willingness to give all for their country, their loved ones and fellow citizens for the sake of freedom.
It is our purpose to celebrate the veteran--not the branch of service, the battle or the war. This memorial is dedicated to every veteran, not any specific veteran.
This memorial is not the work of one person or group but a community project. It is our desire that all credit be given to the community for supporting our veterans by building and maintaining this park.
The park is accessible to everyone. We request that the park be treated with dignity and respect and that all visitors conduct themselves accordingly.
